NLMK pursues active HR policy. One of the most important objectives of the Company's management is to promote welfare of its employees, increasing salaries and offering other rewards and benefits. 
 

 

Occupational health and safety


NLMK aims to continuously improve its safety performance and ensure safe operating processes. All activities aimed at preventing on-the-job accidents are performed in accordance with the NLMK's Labour Protection and Industrial Safety Regulations and the regulatory acts of the Russian Federation.

Occupational health and safety expenditures per employee have increased by 4.6 times since 2000.*

The focus of the Company’s management on occupational safety yielded its results - the number of on-the-job accidents has dropped sharply.

Since 1996 at NLMK's main production site the number of accidents has lowered by 3.4 times – from 119 to 35 last year. The accident frequency rate declined 2.48 times (from 2.48 in 1996 to 1in 2007).*
 

Professional development


In 2007, approximately 21,000 employees participated in different educational programmes: they underwent retraining and advanced training at special courses, obtained a second profession. Training takes place directly at the workplace, at the Centre for Corporate Training of the Personnel Professional Training Department of NLMK and in other educational institutions.
