NLMK and NTMK have founded "Russian Steel"


Today in Nizhny Tagil an agreement on the foundation and operation of nonprofit partnership "Russian Steel" Consortium" was signed between "Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation" and "Nizhnetagilsky Iron & Steel Corporation". The agreement was signed by Chairman of NLMK Board of Directors Vladimir Lisin and Chairman of NTMK Board of Directors Alexander Abramov.

The main aims and tasks of the Partnership are:

§ development of rules and measures aimed at formation of a civilized iron and steel market in Russia;
§ development of cooperation rules and interaction of the Partnership Members with other steel producing companies, other market participants, government and municipal authorities and society;
§ representation of the Partnership's and its Members' professional interests in government and other institutions and organizations;
§ coordination of the Partnership Members' activity in the social and personnel policy area; § iron and steel market study, economic analysis and market forecast.

The following persons were elected members of the Partnership's Supervisory Board: Abramov A.G., Nosov S.K., Lisin V.S., Petrosyan A.R. Mr. Lisin V.S. was appointed the Partnership President - Chairman of Control Committee.

According to Vladimir Lisin and Alexander Abramov the Partnership is open for everybody who shares the Partnership aims and tasks declared.

Sverdlovsk region governor Edward Rossel speaking at the meeting devoted to agreement signing put emphasis on the historic importance of this event, especially on the eve of the 300th anniversary of steel industry in the Urals. According to Rossel, Chairmen of the companies' Boards of Directors Lisin V.S. and Abramov A.G. are the businessmen showing a responsible attitude first of all towards the matters of social policy and environment in their regions. As to the possibility of joining other steel-making companies to the Partnership, Edward Rossel believes that the nonprofit partnership "Russian Steel" Consortium" is open for other mining and steel-making companies of Russia.
