NLMK increases environmental safety of coke production
An environmentally friendly technology for final cooling of coke gas was implemented one year before schedule at coke batteries Nos. 508 of Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation.
The cost of realization of the project was 61 million rubles, it became a new stage in environmental activity of the company, certified by the international environmental standard ISO 14001.
The technology envisages the use of closed heat exchanging devices, which excludes emissions of hazardous wastes, with which industrial water is saturated in the process of coke gas cooling, into the atmosphere.
According to Mr. Evgeny Samsikov, Director of Industrial Ecology, the implementation of the new technology before the scheduled date is premised by the environmental policy of the company.
